Lindam Clarity Digital Video MonitorThis model was improved in July 2009. Prior to that it had some audio problems. The picture quality is fine and the sound problems seem to have been sorted out. Unfortunately the night vision wasn’t up to what we had expected and to be honest we have seen better for very similar money.

It only improved somewhat when we had the light in the room on which rather defeats the object. Another thing that didn’t impress us was there is no strap or belt clip for the monitor which is pretty essential if you want to do household chores etc during the day whilst your baby’s sleeping.

Positioning of the camera was also tricky and the little wire they provided was really inadequate to be honest. The lullaby function was quite nice to it need to have a volume function as the one setting for this is pretty loud and would probably hinder the baby from trying to get to sleep. I have to admit we returned this unit and got a better Safety 1st camera and monitor.

Summer Infant Complete Coverage Color Video Monitor Set with 7" LCD Screen and 1.8" Handheld UnitWe have a handicapped son with many complex medical issues so we are frequent buyers of this type of video monitor device. After setting it up we were pleasantly surprised be the sound and picture quality. The large LCD display unit we keep static in our bedroom so we can monitor him at night. It’s across the room from our bed so the larger screen is really handy and gives us a clear picture of our son all night.

The portable unit is the one that travels around our house and comes equipped with a rechargeable battery which seems to have a very good charge retention. There is sometimes a little static but it’s easy to resolve this by just moving the monitor slightly. The baby video monitor seems unaffected by the wireless router and cordless phones in the house so that was a relief to be honest. If you want to you can hook up the hand-held device to your TV which is very convenient in the evening.

You just change the TV channel for an instant large picture of your baby or child. If you want to you can also have the option of sound, picture, or BOTH which is very handy sometimes.

I hooked the video camera and monitor up and there is NO interference…. unbelievable! NO interference, none…. NO popping sounds, NO dropping picture, NO neighbors kid…. NOTHING… just a very, very clear picture and sound. since I just got the system and hooked it up, I have not yet used the night vision or the zoom/pan features. It’s all pretty straight forward to use from the handset.

The screen on the handset is somewhat on the small size but the clarity and the quality is definitely top quality. The camera and handset are a lot lighter than I expected but they seem to be pretty well made. When you put in the rechargeable batteries in the handset you should make sure you unscrew the little screw at the bottom (or read the directions).

Safety 1st High-Def Digital Video Monitor

The handset comes with rechargeable batteries and a power plug. The camera does not come with the batteries, even though you can run it on batteries so it would make sense to buy a couple of rechargeable batteries for long term economy. So far, comparing it to other monitors, this seems to work flawlessly. I am amazed that no one had come up with this technology before. my first impression of the item is excellent and I would definitely recommend it.

Update: The video is superb with the night vision and you can see every single detail. There’s just one annoying thing, the actual video unit in the baby’s room and it has a annoying blinking green light. I can’t find a way to turn it off so I had to put a piece of folded paper and tape it so it wasn’t a focus point for the baby. There have been no wireless issues with FIOS actiontek router either so overall I’m delighted with this kit and its well worth it for the security and privacy it offers.

Update: OK, so almost one full year of use, I would still highly recommend this to any parent. I don’t know how people manage without a video baby monitor… do yourself a big favor and get a video one and not just a cheaper audio one.

This system is very powerful indeed. The quality of the Video picture and audio is amazing and can’t be faulted. There is an internal rechargeable battery in both the monitor and the camera or of course you can power either directly from the mains supply using the two supplied AC adapters or even using the USB option.

ZOpid Interference Free Video Baby Monitor

We had a little trouble pairing up the video monitor and camera at first so I emailed Customer Service and got a reply in two hours. The instructions for paring up the camera and the monitor were slightly different that those that came with the product but they assured me all new systems had the updated instructions from now on. Anyway we had them paired up in no time and we have absolutely NO interference problems and that’s in a three storey home with 2 wireless routers and 4 cordless phones all working around it.

Great Stuff!
