We found the lullaby option to be very useful. The portable unit was light and easy to carry around and the belt clip came in really handy enabling other jobs to be done at the same time as monitoring the baby. Sometimes the sound option wasn’t the most reliable so it would pay to check the range in your particular house as of course all houses have different layouts which of course means the monitor has a different range in each house. Overall though this was a nice piece of kit and works well for us.

We had had to return a Summer Infant Baby Monitor because unfortunately our house is made of stone and the signal just wasn’t strong enough to be really effective for us. We were advised to try the Kiddopotamus Securesleep and we have been delighted with the performance of it. It reall does offer us the complete monitoring that we need and the picture and sound are of very good quality indeed. The belt clip is extremely hand as it means I can get on with the housework and have both hands free. The rechargeable battery lasts throught the night although we do mainly use it from the mains. But the battery is always there incase of a possible power cut. The picture at night is in Black and white but I understand that most of these units are the same. The picture is still plenty good enough even when the baby’s romm is completely darkened. Very PLEASED overall.

We needed a video baby monitor so we could easier keep an eye on our Daughter who is seven years old but has special needs. We already have Binatone Cordless phones at home and we’re happy with them so we thought we were on to a good thing with this monitor. We like the fact that this monitor system is not designed to be overly “babyish” and it looks quite at home in an older child’s or adult’s room. The quality of the performance is outstanding and we have had no problems at all. The screen is crystal clear and sound quality couldn’t be any better.
The room where the camera is can be pitch dark so that a person wouldn’t be able to even see the bed but the monitor in the living room (or any other room) can see every detail. We are over the moon with this system and highly recommend it. A thoughtful feature is the temperature monitor which assures you that the temperature in the room is always satisfactory. The lullaby feature is also a very good idea although we don’t use it as of course our daughter is a little beyond lullabies but for people with young babies it would be great!

We didn’t have much knowledge on these monitors so anyway we started of with the Summer Infant Color Video Monitor (Hand Held) 02100A with a 2.5 inch screen last year.. The bad news was there were only two channels to choose from and both of them had quite a bit of interference and we were constantly having to re-position the receiver to get the picture and audio clearer. The security on this monitor was very poor too. I think it’s probably not digital so we cold actually see two other babies in our neighborhood and this was a bit disconcerting so we ended up returning this system.
The Secure Sounds Digital which we bought next advertises NO interference and I’m delighted to say we have found this to be the case. There is no static or hum with this monitor (and I can’t tell you how annoying that can be when you’re trying to sleep at night!) and we can actually still get a good video and audio signal as far as a block away from our house! The screen is slightly smaller than the original but the picture is nice and crisp so it’s not a problem. You wouldn’t exactly say it’s “HD” quality but you can clearly see all the detail even at night when it’s purely black and white. Even during the day the colors are a bit faded but that’s not a problem for us. The only thing that matters is we can see and heard our baby very clearly from anywhere in the house.
The crib soother is a nice addition and you have several different noise options varying from 3 lullabies, a couple of nature sounds and even a couple of different vibrations which we have found to be VERY effective.
Paul Smithson – Texas.

* Crib Unit includes 3 lullabies, 2 nature sounds, 2-level vibrations, and a night-light
* Parent’s Unit is small, lightweight size with a 1.8″ color LCD screen

This is by far the best digital baby monitor we have seen and we highly recommend it to anybody who needs to be able to monitor their children reliably. Having had 5 children over 10 years we started with a big old clunky audio monitor and fair enough it did what it said on the box. We used to run a pub and it also doubled as an intercom between the kitchen and the bar!
It couldn’t complete with the Summer Infant though.. The picture is awesome and the range is so good you can even see the child from next door’s house! (Not that I’d encourage anybody to leave their baby in the house on their own of course but we just tested the monitor this way to see how good it was..)
We have had this monitor since December 2008 and have no reliability problems whatsoever.

We tried three other so called top brand name baby video monitors before buying the Summer Infant BestView Handheld Colour Video Monitor. This one is by far the best and they were all pretty expensive. Two of the others you could buy extra cameras for (yet more expense) but this one you don’t need to as the aspect ratio of the camera allows you to see the whole room with the one camera. As the baby has got older (up to nine months) the baby video camera has become more and more a necessity to us as he is prone to sticking a leg through the bars of his cot and getting stuck..
We can even get reception from the bottom of our garden which is pretty impressive. The picture does get a little more grainy the further away you get from the camera but it’s no worse than any of the others we have tried. One thing to not is that even during the day if the light in the room is low the picture reverts to black and white which is probably built in to protect the picture quality which is really very good.
The unit is pretty well built and quite nice to look at and the system is quite easy to use and has a good range and the pan and tilt function offered on this model really does work well.
Kenneth Harrison, Devon UK.

We have had about 4 monitor systems in the past 3 years. our son has special needs and also sometimes has to use breathing equipment. This monitor is so great we can actually see the numbers on the equipment. This has been a real boon to wife who finally is relaxing enough to get somewhere near a good night’s sleep. The monitor is also a nice modern looking piece of equipment which is nice whilst not vital..
We have had absolutely NO interference with this baby video monitor and we have a couple of iPhones and also run two wifi routers in our house as I work from home these days so you could say we have really tested it’s resistence to interference and it has passed the test with flying colors.
It’s great to instantly know whether our son has actually got a problem or has just been disturbed a little in his sleep. One slight thing that bothers us is that the monitor or receiver can only be plugged in and has no battery option but we have learned to manage and the otherwise excellent performance makes this a small inconvenience in fairness..
