Levana BABYVIEW20

levana baby video monitorsThe most important factor about any of these devices is the wireless reception. This can be a tough job but the Levana Babyview20 *INTERFERENCE FREE* Digital Wireless Video Monitor does a steady job producing a consistent signal; We haven’t had any major freezes or lost any video signals at all. You can see a very brief pause when there’s fast motion during night vision, but it is very brief and doesn’t detract from the overall efficiency of the unit.

The night vision works superbly. The camera holds 9 infrared lights. In the dark, you can actually see it glowing red, but it is pretty dim so it’s not something that would scare a baby at night. You can see the actual infrared lights during the video we uploaded but it’s not that bright; that is how the digital camera sees it — not the human eye. But from the video, you can just get an idea of how much infrared lights are in there.

There is a VOX (Voice Operated eXchange) feature, which allows the monitor to be left off and only activate when there is sound detected on the camera. This is a very nice feature, but it would have been nice to be able to adjust the sound sensitivity so you cold catch lower sounds.

This baby video monitor comes with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. According to Levana, it takes 3 hours to fully charge; blue LED means it is charging and when it goes off it’s charged. The camera requires four AAA batteries if you don’t connect it to an AC adapter so at least you do have the option of wire free if you really need it.. Levana says the camera can operate for 4.5 continuous hours with AAA batteries. (and about half if you use the night light) So obviously, it’s probably better to have a power outlet near the camera to use the mains supply instead or be sure to buy some rechargeable AAA batteries, they are relatively inexpensive these days.

philips 2.5 baby video monitor

click image to buy in UK

I must confess I wasn’t over impressed with the thought of a Philips Baby Monitor. We haven’t had much luck over the years with their stuff, but I’ve got to tell you this thing is Brilliant! Even though we haven’t had the baby yet we have been playing around with the baby monitor and the sound is always crystal clear even with wifi and a wireless phone in the same room.

This baby monitor even has a lullaby feature as well as a night light so economically it really makes sense too and with a room temperature alarm it makes you think you really have everything covered. There is an intercom system built into this and I have to admit I am always misplacing stuff around the house so the fact that it has a built in pager is good news for me. There is even a warning system built into the monitor part should the camera become unplugged for any reason.

All in all it’s a very solid piece of kit and the battery life is brilliant! My husband and I thoroughly recommend this baby video monitor! One small thing to consider, if you live in a stone house then you may want to give this a miss and try out another. It will not transmit through stone unless you have all the doors open and that rather defeats the point of a digital baby monitor.

Initially, we had thought a video monitor would not be necessary – until the actual day came when it was time to move our son to her crib in her own room! The first monitor we tried was the Baby’s Quite Sounds miniature Black & White TV monitor (this is also by summer Infant products) that we usually kept by the bed side on the night stand – reception was ok but the large screen cast so much light when you were trying to sleep, that you had to turn the video off and only turn it on when the baby woke.

Having the hand held monitor is a much better solution! We can take it anywhere in the house and the reception is superb (although it does clash a bit while on the cordless phone which is also 900 mHz). We also have a wireless system in our home and we can use the video baby monitor simultaneously without interference to either. Additionally important to note is that I have been able to use this video monitor in combination with the BeBe Sounds Anglecare Sensory Monitor (for SIDS prevention) without any difficulty or conflict between them.

The Angelcare Sensory Monitor is also very efficient if you are considering a SIDS monitor as well! One slight draw back is that at night the video monitor sometimes wakes me up due to static (however, this is down to where you place the monitor, and can usually be adjusted for better reception if there’s a problem).

This monitor has two models with the only difference being the screen size. My model, #02100 has a 2″x2″ color TFT screen or 2.8″ diagonally, and the other model (#02090) has a smaller 1.8″ color TFT screen. You can also purchase an additional camera (for $99.99, model # 02100-01) to view another baby or room on the other channel if you need to. The additional camera is listed under “features” for model number 02100 only; however, the customer service rep. had said that the screen size was the only difference between the two handheld models, so it would probably work for both models.

I hooked the video camera and monitor up and there is NO interference…. unbelievable! NO interference, none…. NO popping sounds, NO dropping picture, NO neighbors kid…. NOTHING… just a very, very clear picture and sound. since I just got the system and hooked it up, I have not yet used the night vision or the zoom/pan features. It’s all pretty straight forward to use from the handset.

The screen on the handset is somewhat on the small size but the clarity and the quality is definitely top quality. The camera and handset are a lot lighter than I expected but they seem to be pretty well made. When you put in the rechargeable batteries in the handset you should make sure you unscrew the little screw at the bottom (or read the directions).

Safety 1st High-Def Digital Video Monitor

The handset comes with rechargeable batteries and a power plug. The camera does not come with the batteries, even though you can run it on batteries so it would make sense to buy a couple of rechargeable batteries for long term economy. So far, comparing it to other monitors, this seems to work flawlessly. I am amazed that no one had come up with this technology before. my first impression of the item is excellent and I would definitely recommend it.

Update: The video is superb with the night vision and you can see every single detail. There’s just one annoying thing, the actual video unit in the baby’s room and it has a annoying blinking green light. I can’t find a way to turn it off so I had to put a piece of folded paper and tape it so it wasn’t a focus point for the baby. There have been no wireless issues with FIOS actiontek router either so overall I’m delighted with this kit and its well worth it for the security and privacy it offers.

Update: OK, so almost one full year of use, I would still highly recommend this to any parent. I don’t know how people manage without a video baby monitor… do yourself a big favor and get a video one and not just a cheaper audio one.

This system is very powerful indeed. The quality of the Video picture and audio is amazing and can’t be faulted. There is an internal rechargeable battery in both the monitor and the camera or of course you can power either directly from the mains supply using the two supplied AC adapters or even using the USB option.

ZOpid Interference Free Video Baby Monitor

We had a little trouble pairing up the video monitor and camera at first so I emailed Customer Service and got a reply in two hours. The instructions for paring up the camera and the monitor were slightly different that those that came with the product but they assured me all new systems had the updated instructions from now on. Anyway we had them paired up in no time and we have absolutely NO interference problems and that’s in a three storey home with 2 wireless routers and 4 cordless phones all working around it.

Great Stuff!
