We have been quite impressed with this baby monitor. The monitor is very discreet and smaller than we thought beofre we bought. The screen seems to be a bit faded at first but there is a backlight that appears when you press any buttons. This really is the complete baby monitor.
The temperature is constantly displayed on the monitor along with the humidity and we found the lullaby feature to be great. You can start and stop the lullabies via the parental controls which is really good when your baby is really young. The nightlight can also be turned off and on remotely but I must say it’s such an insignificant little light the baby probably never noticed whether it was on or off.
There are products with better nightlights than this if that is a priority for you. The sensitivity of the unit can be adjusted to suit your needs as well. When the baby is really young it’s better to hear every sound the baby makes but as it develops into a toddler you may not want to hear every snore or mutter..
The quality of the sound is really sparkling with no hum or buzz at all. It also works as an intercom which is a nice feature and really useful at times. If you don’t want to spring for a baby video monitor or the temperature and humidity features are more important for you then this is probably one of the best baby monitors on the market.

We bought two baby monitors to test against each other. We had to do this separately as the two systems interfered with each other (which we thought was a bad sign for both of them..). The other one was a Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color video hand-held monitor 1.8″. This proved to have superior color display as the Graco didn’t really show true color even in bright conditions..
The range of the Summer Infant was about twice that of the Graco as well. There were no interference problems with either monitor and in truth the Graco performed adequately but we preferred the Summer Infant. I understand that Graco have since upgraded their monitor so maybe it performs better now.
I did read somewhere that the new monitor has more pixels per screen and the picture quality is far better because of this and I must admit it has a vibrate mode which you would think they could ALL employ. After all this technology has been in all cell phones for a while so it shouldn’t be too hard to include in a portable baby monitor. It does feature a handy belt clip as well..

This baby video monitor is pretty good although in retrospect I wished we’d plumbed for one with a bigger screen. One very good feature that not all baby monitors feature is a temperature display on the receiver which actually changes colour as the temperature changes. It will go red if the baby’s bedroom gets too warm and blue if it’s too cold.
Like most of these the camera Changes to black and white viewing at night time or in extremely dim conditions to enable a clear picture. The quality is pretty goo I have to admit. As far as reception goes this monitor automatically changes channel (and there are over 100 for it to choose from) to find the clearest digital signal.
The temperature display can be shown in either celcius or fahrenheit. This unit comes with rechargeable batteries but also has two mains connectors so you can always be sure of not losing power. Overall the product seems to be well made and we haven’t had any trouble with it so we’re happy. We have had it for 4 months without any problems..

We had previously used analogue baby monitors and sometimes it was struggle to tell whether the baby was making any noise through all the static. It took us a few minutes to get the camera to register but once it did we could immediately see a crystal clear picture of our baby. Previously we had been quite skeptical about the “interference free” claim but this baby video monitor has lived up to it’s word and we haven’t had any problems at all.
You can add a camera to the system and this will be great when our second baby arrives in 5 months time. The system is very easy to use and quite simply has fulfilled it’s job to our complete satisfaction. We would highly recommend this Baby Monitor to anyone looking for a straightforward hassle free bay monitoring system.
Previously we had been catching pictures of our neighbour’s baby but all that has stopped now we have gone digital.

We tried three other so called top brand name baby video monitors before buying the Summer Infant BestView Handheld Colour Video Monitor. This one is by far the best and they were all pretty expensive. Two of the others you could buy extra cameras for (yet more expense) but this one you don’t need to as the aspect ratio of the camera allows you to see the whole room with the one camera. As the baby has got older (up to nine months) the baby video camera has become more and more a necessity to us as he is prone to sticking a leg through the bars of his cot and getting stuck..
We can even get reception from the bottom of our garden which is pretty impressive. The picture does get a little more grainy the further away you get from the camera but it’s no worse than any of the others we have tried. One thing to not is that even during the day if the light in the room is low the picture reverts to black and white which is probably built in to protect the picture quality which is really very good.
The unit is pretty well built and quite nice to look at and the system is quite easy to use and has a good range and the pan and tilt function offered on this model really does work well.

Levana BABYVIEW20
The most important factor about any of these devices is the wireless reception. This can be a tough job but the Levana Babyview20 *INTERFERENCE FREE* Digital Wireless Video Monitor does a steady job producing a consistent signal; We haven’t had any major freezes or lost any video signals at all. You can see a very brief pause when there’s fast motion during night vision, but it is very brief and doesn’t detract from the overall efficiency of the unit.
The night vision works superbly. The camera holds 9 infrared lights. In the dark, you can actually see it glowing red, but it is pretty dim so it’s not something that would scare a baby at night. You can see the actual infrared lights during the video we uploaded but it’s not that bright; that is how the digital camera sees it — not the human eye. But from the video, you can just get an idea of how much infrared lights are in there.
There is a VOX (Voice Operated eXchange) feature, which allows the monitor to be left off and only activate when there is sound detected on the camera. This is a very nice feature, but it would have been nice to be able to adjust the sound sensitivity so you cold catch lower sounds.
This baby video monitor comes with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. According to Levana, it takes 3 hours to fully charge; blue LED means it is charging and when it goes off it’s charged. The camera requires four AAA batteries if you don’t connect it to an AC adapter so at least you do have the option of wire free if you really need it.. Levana says the camera can operate for 4.5 continuous hours with AAA batteries. (and about half if you use the night light) So obviously, it’s probably better to have a power outlet near the camera to use the mains supply instead or be sure to buy some rechargeable AAA batteries, they are relatively inexpensive these days.
